About Department (60 Seats)

Mechanical engineering involves the analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of various systems. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines and is essential to a wide range of activities that include the design, development, manufacture, management, and control of engineering systems and their components. Manufacturing, power, aerospace, automotive, materials and processing industries typically employ mechanical engineers.

As a result of the recent rapid expansion of technology, mechanical engineers have also become increasingly involved in computer aided design and visualization, robotics, bio-engineering, solar, wind and ocean energy sources, and space exploration. The breadth of the field provides mechanical engineers with many possibilities for a satisfying career.

Mechanical Department
Department Profile

The Mechanical Engineering Department of the Pemiya Rishikesh Institute of Technology was established in 2017 to fulfill the requirement of skilled workers in the region. Currently the intake capacity is 60 students. The Department with its richly integrated curriculum is committed to impart high quality education and training to students. We have young, energetic, qualified as well as industry-experienced faculty members to bridge the gap between academics and latest industrial trends.

Aims & Objectives

Programme Outcomes
  1. Provide socially responsible, environment friendly solutions to Mechanical engineering related broad-based problems adapting professional ethics.
  2. Adapt state-of-the-art Mechanical engineering technologies to work in multi-disciplinary work environments.
  3. Solve broad-based problems individually and as a team member, communicating effectively in the world of work.
Scope of Employment

HOD Message

HOD
Mr. Prem Chand Mahato
HOD, Mechanical Dept.
PRIT

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines, and plays a significant role in enhancing safety, economic vitality, enjoyment and overall quality of life throughout the world. A prerequisite for development is growth, and that is directly related to the production output of a country.

A warm greeting from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at PRIT. The college has been simply unstoppable in its progress and has been actively involved in various activities that have brought to light the hidden talents of students and staff. Mechanical Engineering is a professional core engineering discipline that deals with the design, production and maintenance of any product of any industry.

Our department has a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty, good infrastructure and lab facilities. We are striving hard continuously to improve upon the quality of education and to maintain our position of leadership in engineering and technology. We always work with the motto "Nothing can be achieved without genuine effort."

Our faculty continuously attend various training programmes, FDPs and Workshops related to new technologies. Our department also conducts seminars and conferences to keep faculty and students abreast with the latest developments in technical education.

Mr. Prem Chand Mahato
HOD, Mechanical Department — Pemiya Rishikesh Institute of Technology

Facilities

The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and modern infrastructure facilities to help efficient learning of engineering principles and hands-on practical training.

Applied Mechanics Lab

Develops thorough understanding of basic concepts, laws and principles of mechanics. Covers engineering problems of mechanical devices like screw jack, winch crab, pulley, worm & worm wheel etc. Provides knowledge about different types of forces/loads and their effects in different conditions/systems.

Material Testing Lab

Well equipped with Universal Testing Machine, hardness, toughness and torsional testing machines. Aims to understand and analyze various types of loads, stresses and strains along with the main causes of failure. Helps in selecting suitable materials for various engineering applications.

Theory of Machines Lab

Contains different machine elements and mechanisms like gear, cam-follower, belt-pulley, flywheel, brake, dynamometer, clutch etc. Helps students understand mechanisms from an operational point of view. Develops professional confidence through practical applications knowledge.

Hydraulics Lab

Features reciprocating and centrifugal pumps, Pelton wheel and Francis water turbine. Fluid mechanics provides the theoretical foundation for hydraulics. Hydraulic machines have important roles in power generation, control and transmission, water supply and irrigation.

Thermal Lab

Well equipped with Petrol engine and Diesel engine test rigs, Compressor, Refrigeration and Window Air-conditioning test rigs. Covers constructional features and thermodynamic aspects of air compressors and fundamentals of refrigeration and air-conditioning with many industrial and entrepreneurial applications.

Workshop

Covers wood working, fitting, welding, plumbing and sheet metal shop skills essential for technicians. Includes theoretical and practical exercises for the art of machining. Develops group working attitude and safety awareness, providing a miniature industrial environment in the educational institute.

AutoCAD / CNC Lab

Features AutoCAD lab and CNC lathe machine. Familiarizes students with working principles and operations performed on non-conventional machines, CNC machines, milling machines, grinding machines, surface finishing machines and maintenance of machine tools.
