About Department (B.Tech — 60 Seats)

The B.Tech programme in Mining Engineering at PRIT offers a rigorous four-year undergraduate education focused on the science and technology of mineral extraction, mine design, rock mechanics, mine safety, ventilation and environmental management. Mining engineers are indispensable to the energy and minerals sector — they ensure that coal, iron ore, limestone and other vital resources are extracted safely, efficiently and sustainably.

The department enjoys a unique geographic advantage, being located in the heart of India's mineral-rich belt with close proximity to major coal and mineral mining operations including BCCL, CCL, ECL, TATA Steel and SAIL. Students benefit from regular industry interaction, field visits, internships and exposure to world-class mining organisations and research institutions such as CMPDIL, CIMFR and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

Programme Highlights
  • 4-year full-time B.Tech degree affiliated to the relevant state technical university
  • Specialisation areas: Rock Mechanics, Mine Ventilation, Mine Safety, Mine Environment, Mine Surveying
  • Modern labs: Rock Mechanics, Mine Ventilation, Mine Environment, Mine Surveying and System Labs
  • Mandatory industrial training in operating coal/metal mines during the final year
  • Exposure to industry software: SURPAC, FLAC 3D, AutoCAD, VULCAN, Earthworks and MS Project
  • Regular industry expert lectures, field camps and study tours to active mining sites

B.Tech Programme — PRIT

Welcome to the B.Tech Mining Engineering programme at Pemiya Rishikesh Institute of Technology. Mining is the foundation of industrial civilisation — without minerals and energy resources, nothing else is possible. As a mining engineer, you will be part of the profession that makes everything else possible.

Our B.Tech programme is designed to develop engineers who are not only technically proficient but also deeply conscious of safety, sustainability and environmental responsibility. Mining today is a sophisticated, technology-driven profession. Our curriculum covers advanced mine planning software, geotechnical analysis, mine ventilation design, environmental compliance and the latest in automation and remote sensing for mining operations.

The department has the exceptional advantage of being surrounded by some of India's largest coal and mineral operations. This proximity gives our students access to real mines, real problems and real professionals that few institutions can match. We have strong collaborative ties with BCCL, CCL, CMPDIL, CIMFR and IIT (ISM), ensuring our students are always connected to the cutting edge of the industry.

I look forward to welcoming you to a programme that will challenge your intellect, sharpen your skills and set you on a rewarding path as a mining engineering professional.
